Control of cotton thrips: imidacloprid spray dressing is effective

Cotton thrips is an important pest on cotton, which is mainly harmed by adult and nymphs, resulting in the dead point of the growing point or the blade becoming brittle and thick, forming a "headless seedling." In order to strengthen the prevention and control of cotton thrips, Zhang Lusheng, Plant Protection Station of Binzhou City, Shandong Province, conducted an efficacy test and put forward an effective prevention and control method.
The test consists of 4 medicaments, each containing 20% ​​sodium thiocarbamate emulsion 40 ml, 10% imidacloprid wettable powder 40 g, 3% acetamiprid EC 50 ml, and 2.5% lambda-cyhalothrin emulsion 30 ml. Add 50 kg of water spray, using fresh water as a control. The best control effect was imidacloprid 1 day after application, followed by lambda-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid, indicating that these three drugs had better immediate effects. Three days after application, the best control effect was still imidacloprid. However, with the exception of butyl sulfide carbofuran, the efficacy of the other three drugs showed a downward trend. The control effect of imidacloprid was still best at 7 days after application, which was 73.71%, indicating that the drug had a long duration of efficacy.
From the test results, the application of imidacloprid and lambda-cyhalothrin in cotton fields has better control effect on cotton thrips, and can be alternately used in production. Another practice, imidacloprid mixed with cotton seeds, cotton thrips also have better control effect, can also treat aphids, planthoppers, while the cotton seedlings have a stimulating growth, improve the role of stress resistance.
