Five factors to consider when choosing a filter

There are many materials that need to be processed by the filter in the production process, and the filtration conditions of different materials are not the same. Therefore, it is quite complicated to choose an ideal filtering equipment. There are many factors to be considered. The main elements considered are as follows:

1 filtration characteristics of the suspension (material)
Before selecting a filter unit, you should first have a clear understanding of the condition of the material that needs to be filtered during production. The concentration of the suspension, the particle size distribution of the solid particles, and the like should be determined, and the type of the filtering device to be selected is initially determined based on the measurement.

2 throughput
In the production process, the amount of material to be filtered is large, and it is advantageous to use a continuous or automated operation filter. If the amount of material to be processed is small, it is generally economical to use a batch filter.

3 processing conditions
Filtration of high temperature, volatile or toxic materials requires special consideration. If the temperature of the suspension is high, vacuum filtration is difficult due to the vapor pressure relationship, and it is suitable to use pressure filtration. In the case of strong material toxicity, closed filtration must be used to prevent material leakage from polluting the environment.

4 filtering purposes
After filtration, some recover valuable solids, some are purified filtrates, and some are both.

5 filter structure and material
If the filter solution is not corrosive, the material requirements should not be too high when using the filter, otherwise the cost will be higher. Structurally, simple models should be considered to avoid maintenance difficulties.

The filter media directly affects the filtration capacity and filtration accuracy of the filtration equipment. If it is not properly selected, even advanced filters can not play a good role. In the field of liquid-solid phase separation, filter media such as filter cloths and filter screens are widely used. With the development of the industry, a variety of filter media have come out one after another. The media characteristics are mainly reflected in the retention capacity, permeability (or gas permeability), temperature resistance, chemical resistance, mechanical strength and ease of peeling off the filter cake. In addition to considering the above factors, it is also necessary to pay attention to the low price and sufficient source.
