Rotary cultivator blade installation and adjustment technology
(1) Blade Installation The installation of the chisel blade is not particularly complex. The chisel knife features a straight hook shape, offering strong grounding capabilities. It performs well in poor soil conditions and is effective at breaking up weeds and compacted soil. Typically, these blades are evenly distributed along the blade using screws for secure attachment. On the other hand, the left and right machete blades have a curved head and a long outer edge, providing strong cutting power. They are suitable for both wet and dry land cultivation, making them highly versatile. Incorrect installation can negatively impact the quality of work and reduce the tool’s lifespan. There are generally three common methods for installing the blades. 1. Outward Installation: Except for the two blades at each end of the blade shaft, all other blades face outward. After tilling, a furrow appears in the middle, which is ideal for breaking up hard soil and preparing the field. 2. Inward Installation: All blades are bent toward the center. This results in raised ridges in the middle and ditches between adjacent passes, making it suitable for general farming operations. 3. Mixed Installation: The left and right machetes are staggered and symmetrically mounted on the blade shaft. However, the blades at both ends are bent inward. This method produces the most common surface pattern after tilling and is widely used. (2) Adjustment Rotary cultivators attached to wheeled tractors typically control tillage depth through the tractor's hydraulic system. For full or semi-separate hydraulic systems, position adjustment is required. With a split-type hydraulic system, the ploughing depth is adjusted using positioning clamps on the cylinder rod, and the joystick should be set to the "floating" position during operation. For walking tractors, the tillage depth is controlled by adjusting the height of the tail wheel. When operating, ensure that the frame remains level and horizontal, with proper alignment of the front and rear parts to maintain smooth transmission. The horizontal level can be adjusted using the left and right booms of the suspension arm. Once the tractor speed is fixed, a faster rotating cutter shaft improves soil processing performance, while a slower rotation may result in less effective soil crushing. Conversely, if the cutter shaft speed is constant, a faster tractor speed leads to deeper soil penetration. Generally, the cutter shaft speed is kept low. However, when fine soil preparation or double tilling is required, higher gears can be used. During rotary tilling, the tractor typically uses first and second gear, and third gear is suitable for the second pass.
