Pig anorexia conditioning method

When pigs experience a reduced appetite, adding small amounts of chili peppers or other spicy ingredients can be highly effective. Spices like chili contain pungency and aroma, which act as irritants that stimulate gastrointestinal secretions, thereby increasing gut motility and improving digestion. Especially for lactating sows, adding a small quantity of pepper not only boosts their feed intake but also helps reduce the occurrence of diseases in piglets and encourages earlier weaning. Secondly, adding a moderate amount of saccharin to pig feed can improve palatability. Fattening pigs tend to eat more and gain weight faster when they find the feed sweet. Lactating sows also benefit from this, as it increases their food consumption, prevents them from becoming thin or losing weight, and enhances milk production. Piglets, naturally drawn to sweetness, show higher survival rates, wean earlier, and gain more weight. Typically, 150 to 200 mg of saccharin per kilogram of feed is recommended. If possible, you can also add sugar during late spring, summer, and early autumn, while brown sugar works best in early spring, late autumn, and winter. Adding 1 to 3 grams of sugar per kilogram of feed can yield even better results than saccharin. Thirdly, including a small amount of salt (no more than 6 grams per day) in the pig's diet can promote metabolism and growth. It increases water intake, improves feed taste, stimulates appetite, and aids in digestion. Lastly, adding a little vinegar—around 10 grams per kilogram of feed (diluted with water is also acceptable)—can make the feed more appealing to pigs and support digestion. Vinegar contains amino acids and other nutrients that are beneficial for pig growth. However, it’s important not to overdo it, as excessive amounts may have negative effects.
