Successful development of TCM research "Traditional Chinese Medicine Four Diagnosis and Analysis System"

On September 22, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine announced the completion of laboratory research on the "Traditional Testing and Analysis System for Four Diagnosis of Traditional Chinese Medicine," developed by its researchers. The system has already applied for four national patents, and it is expected to be available for use next year. This innovative medical device combines traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnostic methods with modern technology, allowing doctors to more objectively and comprehensively evaluate a patient's condition and provide suitable treatment plans.
For centuries, TCM practitioners have relied on their experience, using techniques such as pulse diagnosis, tongue examination, facial observation, and inquiry to assess patients. The saying goes that a skilled TCM doctor can diagnose a patient with just "three fingers and an old man." However, this traditional approach is often influenced by the doctor’s personal knowledge, skills, and environmental factors like lighting and temperature, which can lead to subjective interpretations.
After decades of research, the TCM Four Diagnosis Research Team at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in collaboration with Shanghai Daosheng Medical Technology Co., Ltd., has developed the world’s first “Integrated Detection and Analysis System for Four Diagnosis of Traditional Chinese Medicine.†This advanced system includes four key subsystems: consultation, pulse diagnosis, facial analysis, and tongue diagnosis. It collects comprehensive TCM clinical data, identifies internal organ functions, and analyzes pathological mechanisms with greater accuracy. By integrating multidisciplinary technologies and the expertise of renowned TCM practitioners, the system represents a major step forward in the modernization of traditional medicine. The project has completed theoretical prototypes and is currently conducting large-scale clinical trials to further validate its effectiveness.
