The Virtual Catheterization Room (VCL) combines a realistic operating environment with advanced analog technology to simulate the process and feel of a common right atrium, right ventricular electrode lead placement, active fixation electrode lead placement, and left ventricular electrode lead placement. Among them, the placement of the left ventricular electrode lead is a difficult operation, and it is difficult to teach demonstration on the patient. The activation of the virtual laboratory can improve the heart pacing insertion technology of Chinese doctors through training in the simulation environment, thus overcoming the deficiencies in human surgery teaching.
The virtual cath lab was jointly initiated by Medtronic, the American Heart Rhythm Association, and the Chinese Medical Association's Electrophysiological and Pacing Branch. The laboratory employs experts from the Chinese Medical Association's Electrocardiography and Pacing Society to offer a series of courses free of charge to relevant doctors. After the training in Nanjing, these experts will also use the virtual catheter room to train doctors in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi'an and Hong Kong.
