Storage and storage of rice harvesters

The rice combine harvester is a complex and expensive piece of machinery that is only used for a short period each year—typically during the summer and autumn harvest seasons in southern regions, lasting about a month. After the harvesting season ends, it remains idle for the rest of the year, making proper maintenance and storage essential to ensure its longevity and performance for the next season. To help you preserve your machine, here are detailed steps on how to properly maintain and store your rice combine harvester: First, thoroughly clean the machine inside and out. Remove all dirt, debris, grains, and rags, then rinse with water and dry it completely before storing it in a dry, covered area like a shed or garage. This prevents rust and damage from moisture. Second, take off all the V-belts and clean them. Apply talcum powder to keep them from sticking, then place them in sealed plastic bags and hang them on a wall inside the warehouse. For the drive chain, remove it, clean it in diesel, apply oil or grease, wrap it in plastic, and store it in a well-ventilated and dry location. Third, inspect all wearing parts such as the cutting table’s movable and fixed blades, the auger’s telescopic rod sleeve, and the roller’s teeth. If any show excessive wear, deformation, or damage, they should be repaired or replaced to avoid failure during future use. Fourth, lubricate all rotating bearings and friction points like the cutter blades, clutch fingers, auger extension rods, and adjustment bolts. Apply oil or grease to prevent corrosion. If there are rusted areas, remove the rust and repaint them to protect the metal. Fifth, lift the harvester off the ground using wooden blocks. Lower the header and reel to their lowest positions and place them securely on the blocks. Make sure the hydraulic lifting handle is in the lowered position to reduce strain on the system. Sixth, remove the battery and store it separately. There are two effective methods: the charging and watering method involves fully charging the battery, draining the electrolyte, refilling with distilled water, recharging, and repeating this process before long-term storage. The dry storage method requires fully discharging the battery, rinsing with distilled water until it's neutral, drying it, sealing the vents, and storing it in a cool, dry place. Seventh, remove and clean major electrical components such as the generator and headlights. Store them separately to avoid damage from dust or moisture. Eighth, drain the engine’s cooling system, open the water valve, and flush it with clean water. Empty the fuel tank and cover the air filter, exhaust pipe, and fuel filler with plastic cloth. Pour a small amount of clean oil into the cylinder and turn the crankshaft several times to lubricate internal parts. Ninth, manually crank the engine once or twice a month and add a little oil into the cylinder. Also, move the hydraulic lifting handle back and forth 10–20 times to keep the system functional and prevent mechanical stiffness. By following these steps, you can significantly extend the life of your rice combine harvester and ensure it's ready for the next harvest season. Proper care now saves time, money, and effort later.
