Storage and storage of rice harvesters
The rice combine harvester is a complex and expensive machine that sees limited use, typically during the summer and autumn harvest seasons in southern regions, with only about one month of active operation per year. After the harvest season ends, it's essential to properly maintain and store the machine to ensure it remains in good condition for the next season. Proper storage not only helps extend the lifespan of the harvester but also ensures it will be ready to perform efficiently when needed again.
First, thoroughly clean the machine inside and out. Remove all dirt, debris, grains, and rags. Rinse it with water, dry it completely, and then store it in a dry, covered area such as a shed or garage. This prevents moisture buildup and rust.
Second, remove all the V-belts and clean them. Apply talcum powder to prevent sticking, place them in plastic bags, and hang them on the wall in a dry storage area. Also, take off the drive chain, clean it in diesel, apply oil or grease, and wrap it in plastic paper before storing it in a well-ventilated, dry location.
Third, inspect all wearing parts, such as the movable and fixed blades on the cutting table, the auger telescopic rod sleeve, and the roller teeth. If any of these show excessive wear, deformation, or damage, they should be repaired or replaced to avoid further issues.
Fourth, lubricate all rotating bearings and friction points like the cutter blades, clutch fingers, auger extension rods, and adjustment bolts. Apply oil or grease to prevent corrosion. If there are any rusted or painted areas, sand them down, repaint, and ensure they're protected from future damage.
Fifth, lift the harvester off the ground using wooden blocks. Lower the header and reel to their lowest positions and place the machine on the blocks securely. Make sure the hydraulic lifting handle is in the lowered position to reduce stress on the system.
Sixth, remove the battery and store it separately. There are two common methods: the wet storage method involves fully charging the battery, draining the electrolyte, replacing it with distilled water, recharging, and repeating the process before storing. The dry storage method requires fully discharging the battery, rinsing it with distilled water, drying it, sealing the vent holes, and keeping it in a cool, dry place.
Seventh, remove and clean major electrical components like the generator and headlights. Store them separately to prevent damage from dust or moisture.
Eighth, drain the engine coolant and open the water valve to flush out any remaining water. Empty the fuel tank and cover the air filter, exhaust pipe, and fuel filler cap with plastic cloth. Pour a small amount of clean engine oil into the cylinder and turn the crankshaft several times to distribute the oil evenly.
Finally, manually turn the engine crankshaft twice a month and add a little engine oil into the cylinder. Also, move the hydraulic lifting handle back and forth 10 to 20 times to keep the system functional and prevent mechanical stiffness.
