The post-autumn cultivation techniques of celery, such as Pleurotus ostreatus

Before winter fertilization and soil preparation, the earthworms and stilt roots that have been dug up to a depth of 20 cm will be removed based on a layout of 80 cm in height, 60 cm in width, and 20 cm in depth. This helps improve soil aeration and prevents root damage during planting.

For celery cultivation, we select varieties such as Jinnan real celery and U.S. celery. Seeds are sown in August and transplanted into sorghum fields in early October. A small arch structure is built for winter insulation. In early November, sterilized cottonseed husks are placed in the lowland area and inoculated with Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushrooms). The mushrooming process begins in early February and continues until early April. The celery is harvested before the Spring Festival to ensure fresh supply during the holiday season.

In late February, two rows of early-season tomatoes are planted in the remaining space where the celery was grown. Tomato seedlings are started indoors in mid-December and then moved to greenhouses. At the beginning of growth, they are covered with multiple layers of protection to shield them from cold weather. Tomatoes are harvested at the start of May, and after harvesting, the plants are removed by the end of May. Afterward, the soil is thoroughly loosened and filled with 10 cm of fine soil to prepare for the next crop cycle.

In early June, we broadcast seeds of the pod variety 28-2 in the original tomato planting area. This helps cool the soil and supports the growth of new crops through proper moisture management and shading techniques.

Bean harvest takes place in early September. Before that, in late August, two rows of cucumber are sown under the bean trellis. Prior to sowing, the existing oyster mushroom beds are opened, and the soil on the ridges is prepared for planting. Oyster mushrooms can be watered and shaded without further inoculation, and it's also possible to use the original substrate and mycelium to grow a second batch of autumn oyster mushrooms. Late autumn cucumbers are protected using plastic film, starting in mid to late October to extend the growing season.

This detailed rotation system ensures efficient land use, maximizes yield, and maintains soil health throughout the year. It combines traditional farming methods with modern agricultural practices to support sustainable production.
